Resuts – Boston Marathon 2012

I am so proud of Shirley Riley from Tuscon AZ! She beat the previous champion Wakako Tsuchida by only a second. These three top ladies stuck together for almost the entire race. I would have loved to have video of them on heartbreak hill.

Challenged Athletes Foundation Grant

Right now I am working on my grant application for a pair of disc wheels for my racing chair. The Challenged Athletes Foundation gave me the grant I needed to get a custom racing chair back in 2009. They were the reason I made progress in the sport and saw results in the first couple months of training.  I found a new love in my life and it was all because I got started with the right equipment.

CAF will always hold a place in my heart. Read here to find out what they distributed last year. And then, check if you are eligible and – apply for a grant online. And do it soon because the deadline is December 1st.

Keira-Lyn Frie

via cyclonesroadandtrack.com

Keira caught my eye when she came in 2nd place at the Peachtree 10k. She is a Canadian athlete who sticks mostly to Track. She had a great showing at the London Disability Athletics Grand Prix with 4 wins.

Born in 1987, she became paralyzed in 2004 after a fall from the roof of a garage. She got into racing a year later and flourished with a good mentor and active racing community.

You can find a short biography about her on her hometown Track Club Website.
